PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPOINTS NEW VICE PRESIDENT FOR DEVELOPMENT, VINCE MICONE
WASHINGTON – The Partnership for Public Service today announced that Vince Micone has joined the organization as Vice President for Development. An 18-year veteran of the federal government, Micone will lead the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts.
Prior to joining the Partnership, Micone served at the U.S. Department of Justice where he managed human resources programs and initiatives – most recently as Assistant Director, Programs and External Relations – for the 100,000 person agency. Micone began his federal career in the prestigious Presidential Management Fellows program that singles-out high-performing students for public service careers.
While at Justice, Micone served as chairperson for the government’s annual charitable giving campaign, the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area, from 2002 to 2008. Under his leadership, the campaign raised a record $60 million dollars for 4,000 charitable groups, and nearly 1 out of every 2 federal workers participated.
“Our mission at the Partnership for Public Service is to inspire a new generation to serve,” said Max Stier, the organization’s President and CEO. “Vince Micone is the perfect candidate to lead our fundraising efforts because he lived our mission at the Justice Department for 18 years. I am delighted that he is now part of our team, working with us to inspire others to ‘do well and do good’ in public service careers.”
To start, Micone will lead the organization’s efforts to increase private giving and secure corporate sponsorships for the Partnership’s prestigious Service to America Medals program that honors outstanding federal workers each year.
The Partnership is funded in part by two generous grants from its founder, New York City businessman Samuel J. Heyman, who started the nonprofit in 2001 to inspire more of the nation’s best and brightest to consider public service careers. In addition, the Partnership’s has received a number of major foundation grants in recent years to fund its programs including gifts from The Annenberg Foundation, and The Atlantic Philanthropies.
The Partnership for Public Service works to revitalize the federal government by inspiring a new generation to serve and by transforming the way government works. For more information, visit www.ourpublicservice.org.
