PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE STATEMENT APPLAUDING SENATOR KOHL AND SENATE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON AGING FOR OLDER WORKER AGENDA
WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement today applauding Senator Kohl (D-WI) and the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging for their efforts to ensure that older Americans have employment opportunities in federal service:
“Under Senator Kohl’s leadership, the Senate Special Committee on Aging is doing the nation a great service by helping federal agencies tap into the extraordinary expertise of older Americans. Addressing the many challenges facing the American people today demands a federal workforce with experienced professionals, and the baby boom generation is a rich source of talent.
One needs only look at the tremendous complexity of the problems plaguing our financial system to know that we need seasoned individuals with keen insight leading the federal government’s response.
We applaud Senator Kohl and his colleagues, including Senators Collins, Voinovich and Martinez, for their steadfast commitment to older Americans and to ensuring there is a place for them in federal service. The government, and the public, will benefit mightily from their skills and experience.”
The Partnership for Public Service is working with IBM and other private sector partners to help recruit private sectors retirees for positions where federal agencies need them most. The FedExperience pilot program is the first of its kind, and it builds off research that reaffirmed the potential of the baby boom generation to meet some of government’s most critical talent needs.
