PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS EFFORTS OF SENS. COLLINS, VOINOVICH AND KOHL

WASHINGTON – Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement today applauding Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), George Voinovich (R-OH) and Herb Kohl (D-WI) for introducing legislation that will facilitate the part-time reemployment of annuitants:

“At a time when the workforce is aging and the federal government is facing a significant loss of experienced talent, it is critical that we find new ways to minimize the effects of the impending brain drain.

The Partnership for Public Service applauds Senators Collins, Voinovich and Kohl for their leadership in introducing legislation that will facilitate the part-time reemployment of annuitants. By offering federal retirees a salary, plus full annuity benefits, the bill will encourage seasoned civil servants to continue their service on a part-time, temporary basis. Agencies will be able to tap a needed source of talent and at the same time facilitate the transfer of knowledge and expertise to future leaders.”
