PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS SENS. DANIEL AKAKA AND GEORGE VOINOVICH FOR INTRODUCING THE "TELEWORK ENHANCEMENT ACT OF 2009"

WASHINGTON – The Partnership for Public Service released the following statement applauding Sens. Daniel Akaka (D-HI) and George Voinovich (R-OH) for introducing legislation that will encourage telework in the federal government:

“Senators Akaka and Voinovich continue to be leaders in promoting sound management policies in the federal government.  Telework has been an underutilized tool in the federal workplace, but we know that it can work, and work well, when agency leaders are committed to ensuring its success.  The Telework Enhancement Act of 2009 introduced by Senators Akaka and Voinovich will help ensure that telework enhances agency and employee performance and serves as an effective recruitment and retention tool.  We applaud Senator Akaka and Senator Voinovich for their ongoing commitment to our civil service, and we encourage swift consideration of the Telework Enhancement Act.”
