PARTNERSHIP FOR PUBLIC SERVICE APPLAUDS OMB AND OPM FOR TAKING ON HIRING REFORMS

WASHINGTON –Partnership for Public Service President and CEO Max Stier released the following statement commending Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag and Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry for tackling the daunting hiring process and setting forth critical steps to improve it:

"The biggest barrier to attracting top talent into government is the federal hiring process. It's too slow, too opaque, plagued by jargon and hindered by antiquity. Too often, it doesn't connect the right candidate with the right job.

“Fixing the hiring process is essential to building an effective government. Director Orszag and Director Berry have outlined four steps that will dramatically improve the federal hiring process for applicants and in doing so they are addressing the biggest deterrent to government service. The Partnership applauds them for their leadership and vision.”
