The Partnership for Public Service’s Strategic Advisors to Government Executives (SAGE) Program connects senior-level executives in government with their predecessors and private-sector counterparts, providing them with an opportunity to leverage prior government experience as well as private-sector capabilities to continue to help transform government and improve performance. The SAGE effort focuses on the senior leadership in government, tackling issues that affect the management of operational disciplines across the public-sector. The Partnership’s SAGE Program is currently comprised of communities for Chief Information Officers (CIO), Chief Financial Officers (CFO) and Chief Acquisition Officers (CAO).
The four main goals of the SAGE Program are to:
With their extensive experience and knowledge, SAGEs are able to help federal C-suite executives navigate the complex environment of the federal workforce, including the various political, management and fiduciary demands of their position. The services of the SAGEs allow for new federal executives to accelerate their ability to execute the legal responsibilities of their position, contributing to more efficient and effective government leadership. These officials are granted access to a unique board of advisors, all experts in their field, who want to give back to government and continue their involvement in public service.
SAGEs engage their public-sector counterparts through a variety of activities including workshops, thought leadership sessions and expert panels; two-day orientation Boot Camps; and peer-to-peer mentoring. Additionally, each SAGE community has produced a Roadmap relevant to its specific discipline. The Federal CIO, CFO and CAO Roadmaps are high-level views of the fiduciary responsibilities of the positions and include guidance on the traits of an effective federal executive.
The Partnership for Public Service is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to revitalize our federal government by inspiring a new generation to serve and by transforming the way government works.
